What My 4 Year Old Can Teach Us

Don’t tell her this, but my 4 year old is smarter than her old man sometimes.

Have you ever seen a 4 year old do something? Sure they ask you a question here or there but otherwise they work feverishly to get things done. How do adults do it?

Well we analyze something, read about it some more, read some more, and then end up doing nothing to actually fix what’s not working, and usually what’s not working is that we aren’t actually DOING anything to fix our goals.

Would a 4 year old do that?

Ok imagine you want to learn carpentry or become a contractor. You have 2 options to learn right:

  • Go to school to learn
  • Learn while doing it

Who do you think learns faster and better? All of my students are actually doing thing that are actually making them money immediately or on the way to making money immediately. The more you wait to earn money, the less chance you have at earning it.

Remember physics class and Isaac Newton? The principle is called inertia, and it basically says things in motion will stay in motion and things which aren’t moving take more force to move. That’s why most people who actually succeed online have mentors…

And those who read themselves into oblivion with one more trick and not doing things to make themselves successful end up in the same place day-after-day, week-after-week, etc.. It’s all a matter of perspective.

So if you want a great lesson, go to kindergarten somewhere, or even pre-school, to re-learn how to be successful again. Oh, and you know how often we discover how brilliant children are and now that we are adults where are all the brilliant people?

Here’s the answer…

All those brilliant children got stifled by paralysis by analysis. We were taught we have to know everything in order to do something, and I would rather you know something and do everything.
